Elocution Contest 2017

For the first time ever, our students participated in our First Annual Elocution Contest today. This contest is a public speaking competition, where students take turns speaking to large groups of observers. Each classroom teacher, Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, chose a poem during the early weeks of October. Each student memorized their poem and dictated is in front of a panel of judges A First, Second, and Third place winner was awarded in each grade, and all First Place winners will move on to the Elocution Contest Finals which will take place on January 23, 2018.

First Place winners will pick a poem or speech of their choosing and present it to the entire school where two winners will be awarded.

And the winners were...

Kindergarten: Arianna Weatherspoon (1st), Amir Thomas (2nd), and Janiah Murdock (3rd)

First Grade: Chanel Witherspoon (1st), A'zaria Mans (2nd), and Ja'Kayla Edwards (3rd)

Third Grade: Aaliyah McNeal (1st), Unique Thompson (2nd), and Alayjah Oldfield (3rd)

Fourth Grade: Jayla Padilla (1st), Khyra Robinson (1st), Anderson Moore (2nd), and Fred Francois (3rd)

Fifth and Sixth Grade: Eloise Ingraham (1st), Jania Burton (2nd), Kaylah Lewis (3rd), and Jaydah Williams (3rd)

Seventh and Eighth Grade: Anthony McNeal (1st), Trishawna Clinton (2nd), Mashya Ellis (2nd), ad K'Vianai Denson (3rd)
